Privacy Policy

General

This policy covers how the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) handles personal information collected and received from or through our Web site. Personal information is information about you that identifies you individually—such as your name, address, e-mail address, or phone number—that might not be publicly available. This policy does not apply to the practice of entities or people that KSBA does not own, control, employ, or manage.

Accessing our Web Site

You are not required to be a KSBA member or to provide personal information to use our Web site. We do not collect personal, identifying information such as your name and e-mail address unless you provide that information. However, KSBA uses personal information in the course of business to provide products or services you request.

IP Address

We use your IP address (your computer’s Internet address) to help diagnose problems with our server and administer our Web site.

Cookies

KSBA uses cookies (text files placed on your hard drive by a Web server) to help personalize and maximize your experience and time on line. Cookies are not used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. They are uniquely assigned to your computer and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. (Read more about how to manage cookies in Terms and Conditions.)

Registration and Forms

From our site, you may register to attend events or obtain services. These registrations may require you to provide the following:

  • Contact information such as your name and e-mail address
  • Demographic information such as ZIP code and date of birth
  • Financial information to invoice for products or services purchased

Links

The KSBA Web Site contains links to other Web sites. KSBA is not responsible for the privacy practices of sites other than our own. We encourage you to be aware of the privacy statements on other Web sites and to read these statements.

Protection of Information

Some areas of the KSBA Web Site are secured and can only be accessed through the KSBA Portal log-in. You must have a specific user identifier (user ID) and password to access secured resources through the KSBA Portal from the KSBA Web Site. For security reasons, do not share your user ID or password.

The KSBA Portal protects confidential, personal information from other visitors to the KSBA Web Site. The KSBA Portal has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of information under our control.

Online Purchases

KSBA uses industry-standard practices and software to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal, identifying information. Firewalls and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption protect credit card information you make available for any online purchases.

Changes to this Statement

KSBA reserves the right to change this privacy statement at any time. Notification of changes will be posted on the KSBA Web Site. Because these changes may affect your personal information, we suggest that you look for information regarding changes on a regular basis and review the changes as soon as they are published on the Web site.

Correcting Your Information

We strive to assure the correctness of member information. If the information we have about you is inaccurate, we will correct the information in a manner as timely as possible. To provide us with corrections, please contact us in any of the following ways:

Terms and Conditions of Use

General

The Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) Web Site is available for use under these Terms and Conditions. The use of this site constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. Please read these terms and conditions carefully. If you do not accept these terms and conditions, your use of this site is not authorized by the Association

This agreement applies to the use of any resources available through the KSBA site, including message boards, published content, and secured material through the KSBA Portal.

Use of Content

This site is copyright-protected. Unless otherwise stated, copyright or similar rights are reserved for all material presented on the site, including but not limited to audio and video clips, graphics, and links. KSBA authorizes you to view and download material from our site, provided the information is for your personal use. Unauthorized use of these materials may violate copyright laws. All copyright and other proprietary notices in the original material must be retained on any copy you make of the original material. You may not sell, distribute, or publish any content you obtain from this site without permission.

Rules of Conduct

You agree to use this Web site for lawful purposes only. You may not use this site to transmit any content that is abusive, vulgar, obscene, hateful, fraudulent, unlawful, threatening, harassing, or defamatory. Content includes, but is in no way limited to, content that is viewable by others on the site, comments, and artwork.

Links to External Web Sites

As a convenience to our visitors, the KSBA Web Site has links to external Web sites that are owned and operated by third parties. KSBA makes no representation whatsoever regarding the content of any other Web sites that you may access from this site. When linking to an external site, please understand that it is independent from KSBA.org, and we have no control over the content on that Web site. A link to a non-KSBA Web site does not mean that we endorse or accept any responsibility for its content or use. KSBA does not guarantee the availability or accuracy of content on any site linking to our Web site. It is the user’s responsibility to check each site for its own privacy statement and terms and conditions of use.

Availability

KSBA’s goal is for continuous access, 24 hours per day, to our Web site. However, there may be times when the site is unavailable due to routine maintenance. Maintenance times are selected after identifying peak usage times to avoid the site being down during those periods.

Limitations of Liability

KSBA does not guarantee that service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Content is provided on an ‘as is,’ as-available basis. KSBA does not guarantee that any file available for downloading is free of viruses or similar contamination or destructive features.

IP Addresses

We collect IP addresses (the Internet address of a computer) to track use—individual users remain anonymous (except when logged into the KSBA Portal). We analyze this data for trends and statistics about page viewing frequency and sequence to improve our site and the services we offer. We do not link your IP address to anything personally identifiable. Nevertheless, you should know that, if necessary, an IP address, including yours, can and will be used to identify anyone responsible for threatening the integrity or security of the site or our computer systems and information networks.
Browser Specifications

Complete functionality of certain parts of the KSBA Web Site depends on the use of specific browsers and features and the use of cookies. We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (or above) for PCs; we recommend Firefox 2.0 (and higher) for PCs and Mac OS X.

Cookies

KSBA uses cookies (text files placed on your hard drive by a Web server) to monitor Web site usage and to help personalize your browsing experience. Cookies are uniquely assigned to your computer and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie. Cookies are not used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

You may have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you usually can modify your browser settings to decline them. Alternately, you may be able to modify your browser settings to notify you each time a cookie is tendered, allowing you to accept or decline cookies on an individual basis. If you choose to decline cookies, however, you may not have access to the full functionality of the KSBA Web Site, including the KSBA Portal, the secured-access application.

Copyright and Other Intellectual Property

Any trademarks, logos, and service marks displayed on this site are the property of KSBA. Any unauthorized use or misuse of these intellectual properties or unauthorized use of any contents of this site will be subject to all appropriate remedies, including appropriate legal action.

Changes

Please review this Terms and Conditions of Use document periodically, as we may update it from time to time.

By using this website, you acknowledge that you have read this agreement and agree to be bound by its terms.
